Concerned about student LEARNING LOSS? Use DOK to address and assess gaps in student in learning. By identifying their own level of depth of knowledge, students can demonstrate their learning and build upon their strengths and successes, so they can rise to, reach, and go beyond the expectations set by the standards and themselves. Use DOK Levels as a method and model for delivering and differentiating instruction, responding to intervention, making modifications for students who require specialized supports, and provide opportunities for extension of student learning.
In these virtual, asynchronous sessions, participants will understand what exactly depth of knowledge is and how Webb’s DOK Levels can be used to code and compare the cognitive demand of academic standards, curricular activities, and assessment items and create a multi-tiered system of support that will guide students to demonstrate and communicate their learning up to and beyond the ceiling of assessment set by the standard.
Participants will learn:
- How to deconstruct the learning expectation of academic standards to designate the depth of knowledge level students must demonstrate and communicate.
- How to designate the level of depth of knowledge demanded by academic standards, curricular activities, and assessment items using Webb’s DOK Levels.
- Practical applications for use in the classroom or on-line learning environment that will be learned in the workshop.
- Gain methods, strategies, and techniques to deliver highly effective instruction. Learn to plan units and lessons using the instructional tools.
- Provide coaching, support, and training to staff members the subsequent year on instructional methods and strategies.
Participants will need to bring to the training: A laptop or tablet to download instructional materials and tools College and career-ready standards for the academic area or subject being taught Grade level curriculum, texts, and scope and sequence for instruction, assessment, and evaluation.
