5 Professional Development Hours!

Guided Reading Fundamentals Guided reading is a foundational component of balanced literacy instruction. It is scaffolded small group leveled reading support where students get an opportunity to practice the reading skills and strategies you have taught them. Learn the essential classroom conditions that must exist for Guided Reading to be successful, plan a guided reading lesson and learn the 8 components of a guided reading session.

Remote Guided Reading In the afternoon, she will take the 8 components of guided reading and discuss which ones can be removed and which ones are the most important to include in virtual guided reading. She will discuss ways to conduct phonemic awareness synchronously with students via a video meeting platform or asynchronously using video recordings. She will demonstrate how to incorporate word play and guided writing remotely as well as share resources on online texts for e-learning and online running record assessments.
