Upcoming Conferences & Workshops
Teacher and Student SEL to Accelerate Student Learning in the "New Normal" Classroom with Dr. Terry Mootz
The format of this workshop will be asynchronous - you may complete it on your own schedule.
These sessions will provide you, the classroom teacher, with strategies you can use to address the stress and social emotional levels you and your students may be experiencing while accelerating students' learning. Students, and teachers, are social beings. The greatest predictor of learning success for students entering the school year is whether they make a friend in the first month. Building relationships is the foundation for student learning. Teachers will share and discuss strategies to support social-emotional strategies for adults and students that lead to empathetic classroom relationships and accelerated student learning and achievement.
SESSION 1 - Teacher SEL
We will review the 5 SEL competencies and take a look at 3 factors that support adult SEL through self-assessment, personal support for collaboration, and modeling SEL for others. This is designed as a 60-minute asynchronous learning opportunity with outside resources for support:

- Self-Assessment: My Voice Survey
- Self-Assessment: Professional Quality of Life Scale (PROQOL)
SESSION 2 - 10 Strategies to Accelerate Learning
This connects the 5 SEL competencies to 10 social/instructional teaching strategies and the impact these can have on accelerating student learning gains. This is designed as a 60-minute asynchronous learning opportunity with outside resources for support.
