Come prepared to play my favorite games and learn strategies for developing operational fluency concepts. Both fluency and number sense need to be front and center in your teaching as you work through the rest of your year, especially for laying the foundations for multi-digit operations. If your students still have gaps or learning loss, this is a workshop that will really help you rebuild their confidence and competence.

This workshop will help you continue to work on solidifying the following concepts:

- subitizing

- using number lines/number paths for count on and back

- doubles strategy

- make 10,s, 20's. decades

- commutative and associative properties of +

- subtraction strategies

- mental math

- composing/decomposing numbers for developing strategies for multi-digit + and -

Throughout the workshop participants will play games that incorporate the use of cards, dice, and number lines, and get ideas for easily differentiating the activities so that all learners can be engaged and successful. Games can be used in centers, small groups, or in whole-class instruction. You will receive an extensive PDF handout with gameboards, math journal, and math talk extensions, and concept skill checklists for assessment.
