NEED HELP WITH STUDENT BEHAVIOR?

 FIND EFFECTIVE CLASSROOM STRATEGIES!

                  SET EXPECTATIONS; USE PRE-CORRECTION; BEHAVIORSPECIFIC PRAISE;

INSTRUCTIONAL CHOICE; ACTIVE SUPERVISION - AND MORE!

BUILDING A STRONG CORE:

PREVENTING CHALLENGING BEHAVIORS BY

INCORPORATING TIER 1 STRATEGIES WITHIN YOUR CLASSROOM

Learn supports to establish clear classroom structure which is often overlooked or implemented with weak fidelity resulting in increased challenging behaviors. Participants will learn the rationale behind focusing on effectively implementing these low-cost, high-efficacy supports to minimize challenging behaviors and the need for more
intensive interventions at the tier 2 and tier 3 levels. Strategies to be taught include teaching and reviewing expectations and routines, precorrection, behavior-specific praise, instructional choice, active supervision, and active student response methods. Finally, participants will learn how to effectively tie these strategies
together within the context of an instructional block to increase student engagement.

Session 1: Why Build a Strong Core?
Amanda Wilson and Danielle Gonyea are Co-Founders of Navigating Behavior Change. Their primary goal is to
assist educators in teaching and improving the lives of at-risk students who exhibit challenging behaviors. We
know that true, long-term behavior change requires the participation of a team of adults. Therefore, we strive to
provide high-quality support to teachers, administrators, school psychologists, behavior analysts, and other service
providers. Both began their careers in the classroom and soon found behavior analysis as a solution to classroom
learning issues.

Session 2: High-Efficacy Strategies
Experience an overview of proper implementation of low-cost, high-efficacy tier 1 supports. Participants will learn
the core steps to implementation of the following strategies: Teaching expectations and routines, utilizing precorrection, behavior-specific praise, instructional choice, active supervision, and active student response methods. Instructional downloads of these strategies will also be provided to participants to further reference.

Session 3: Putting it All Together
Participants will learn to organize and embed reviews of expectations, precorrection, behavior-specific praise,
active supervision, and active student response methods effectively within the context of an instructional block. This
will be taught via description (downloadable outline) and demonstration (modeling within the session).
