This full-day session about the Science of Reading will leave you with the right amount of English language knowledge to put many pieces of evidence-based research into action in your classroom. Topics throughout the day are: How the Brain Learns to Read & Write, Ramping Up the Teacher Read-Aloud for Developing Listening
Comprehension and Building Background Knowledge, Key Features of Systematic, Explicit Phonics Instruction, Correct Pronunciation of the 44 Phonemes & the 250 Graphemes Kids Must Learn to be Master Decoders AND Spellers.

TAKE PRACTICES TO YOUR CLASSROOM TOMORROW:
There will be planned interactive activities in phonemic awareness, sound-symbol mapping, syllable division, visual/auditory/blending and vowel drills, sentence dictation, decodable text reading, and reading comprehension through oral language.
