Job Vacancies

 

The Morton Arboretum in Lisle, IL, seeks an Associate Manager of School Programs to develop and manage the Arboretum’s School Programs. This includes program development, coordination with teachers and district curriculum developers, scheduling, budgeting, and evaluating regular programs for school classrooms, on-site field trips, in-classroom outreach programs, teacher training, and outreach to underserved schools. This position works closely with other Education staff who strive to make full use of the Arboretum’s resources to help educators and students gain skill and knowledge in areas prioritized by the National Teaching Standards and evolving Core Curriculum.  Minimum requirement:  Bachelor’s degree in education and five years experience teaching children in a formal classroom setting; Master’s degree preferred.  Two prior years supervisory or leadership experience required.  Type 03 Elementary Education with Science Endorsement, or Type 09 Secondary Biological Science teaching certification required. Must have demonstrated experience in the design and development of age appropriate informal education programs and school curriculum. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Coordinator of Curriculum and Personnel
Skokie School District 69 has an opening for Coordinator of Curriculum and Personnel.  Available July 1, 2010.  Job responsibilities include:  Curriculum leadership and assessment, coordinating professional development opportunities, coordinating state and federal grants. Compensation: $90,000 maximum salary reserved for a candidate with documented experience meeting all experiential and preparatory requirements.  Reports to the superintendent.

Qualifications:  Exemplary personal and professional qualities and must meet requirements for certification in the State of IL (Type 75).  Preference given to candidates with successful teaching and administrative experience with demonstrated potential and capabilities including:

·         *  Visible, accessible leadership with effective communication skills.

·         *  Skills to work effectively with people, organize, conceptualize end product or outcome, & implement program/result in timely manner.

·         *  Understanding of elementary, junior high/middle school academic programs.

·         *  Proven skills in all aspects of curriculum development, including developing curriculum & instruction plans, leading & directing curriculum development, improving instruction, analyzing & assessing student achievement, directing staff development, completing and overseeing entitlement and competitive grants, and coordinating the District’s participation in township curriculum projects.

·         *  Have a working knowledge of special education laws, requirements, and IEPs.

·         *  Responsible for carrying out other district-wide functions as assigned by the superintendent.

·         *  Personal attributes of integrity, courage, warmth, self-confidence, flexibility, good judgment and organization.

·         *  Skills to establish and maintain good rapport with a diversified community, students, and staff members.

·         *  Collaborative skills to work with all administrators, the Board of Education, and community members.
